Warning! Contains some opinionated message not related to art.

Magazines! I am fascinated by Somerset Studios and Cloth Paper Scissors. In one issue you get inspiration to last you a year and yet I'm always up for the next month. Even if I stopped purchasing the magazines, the ones I have collected so far (and I never throw away an issue of either) could probably give me inspiration for the rest of my life. Although the aforementioned magazines are my main purchases, I still pick up a occasional issue of O (Oprah), Better Homes and Gardens, Sunset. I somehow managed to get a free subscription to Women's Day and its content is mostly cute but I don't think I'd ever pay for a copy. I used to subscribe to More but I get the distinct impression that the editors have a heavy liberal leaning. Is being a women an automatic membership in the liberal front? I dont think so and I find their assuming that slant rather offensive. I'm also getting to love blogs since the majority of them are focused on the art and not other political leanings. Opps... I think I crossed that line. Sorry. I'd rather hear what real people are doing and saying rather than some writer giving me more opinions.  ...Above:  Nebraska Sandhills, watercolor by Shelly Wall 2009.

Stuff in the tubs

I have so many things I've collected over the years: for inspiration, mementos, photographs, clippings, articles, quotes, paint. I just today when thru one container with beads, tags for prices, pen with jewels, wire, more beads. airline ticket (used) to St. Maarten, brushes, plastic lids to use as palettes for painting, old credit cards, gift cards, sample cards to make lines in the paint, itty-bitty clothes pins, paper clamps, colored floss - very cool. Setting up a painting for a friend (at her request)... Don't usually paint for friends and family unless they request something specific. There is nothing worse than to give a piece of art you've made and can see they don't think it is nearly as cool as you do... Avoids hurt feelings and I know what I do is not for everyone..Mostly for me - I like it but ... I am so up for making art! Off to do it.

Streamlet

An off-the-cuff study from imagination. Feels calm. I try to give that to my pictures kind of a placid tranquil feeling. Although I don't want to push the edges of boring...
